The DAFS demonstration at Oracle Open World showed Oracle's 9i database system accessing data files stored on a Network Appliance Filer over a fibre channel link using the DAFS protocol. DAFS was transparently integrated with Oracle 9i using the new Oracle Disk Management (ODM) interface. See this press release for more details.
Intel Developer Forum, San Jose
At Fall IDF the DAFS demonstration showed an Intel Architecture application server running Linux accessing data files stored on a Network Appliance Filer over a 2.5 Gb/s InfiniBand switched fabric using the DAFS protocol. See this press release for more details.
IBTA Solutions Conference, Los Angeles
At the IBTA Solutions Conference Network Appliance demonstrated the Real Server application (in conjunction with a user-level DAFS library running on a "white box" Intel Architecture server running Windows 2000 Advanced Server) using DAFS to access shared media files stored on a Network Appliance Filer over a 2.5 Gb/s InfiniBand link. See this press release for more details.
Oracle Open World, San Francisco
Two DAFS demonstration at Oracle Open World showed Oracle's 9i database system accessing data files stored on a Network Appliance Filer. One of the demonstrations used Emulex's VI/IP Host Bus Adapters and Gigabit Ethernet as the transport; the other used Intel Host Channel Adapters and a 2.5 Gb/s InfiniBand link. In both cases, DAFS was transparently integrated with Oracle 9i using the new Oracle Disk Management (ODM) interface. In the Ethernet demo, the database server was a Sun server running Solaris 8. In the InfiniBand demo, the database server was an Intel server running Linux. See this press release for more details.
